In case of evacuation, your guests already know the way out.

Try it on your own rental: pick the county, the street, the layout, the room a guest is in and an official order. The floor route, the shelter route and the guest text redraw below.

Ordinance checklist

CITY OF SARASOTA, FL / ORD. 25-5560 (JULY 2025)

  • Map of the evacuation route to the nearest hurricane shelters, displayed in the unit
  • Shelter named on the posting
  • Guest guide page linked by QR

Legend: how a plan gets made

  1. 01
You send the address and a floor sketch. Pick the layout in the planner or upload a phone photo of the unit layout after you save.
  2. 02
We draw the placard. Floor plan exits, your county zone, the route to the nearest usable shelter, and the guest guide page behind the QR.
  3. 03
We match your local rule. The plan is checked against your city or county's rental ordinance.
  4. 04
A safety reviewer signs it off. Route, shelter, ordinance items and disclaimer are checked by a person, who is named on the record with the date.
  5. 05
You print and post it. Or we ship it laminated.
  6. 06
We keep the data fresh, county by county. Zones from the official state or county zone layer (FDEM in Florida, Know Your Zone in North Carolina). Shelters from the county pre-season list, then FEMA's Open Shelters feed on storm day, refreshed every 20 minutes. Every county is re-checked each May and whenever an order is issued, and each map prints its source and check date.
  7. 07
Storm day, we message your booked guests. When an official order covers your zone, the alert is drafted, checked by a person, then sent.

Next on the route: three more coasts and hills

LEG 1 / GULF

Walton County and Galveston

Walton County Ord. 2023-03 already asks for an evacuation notice by the main door and a map on upper floors. Galveston Ord. 25-060 (2025) asks for flood evacuation guidance in every unit.

LEG 2 / CAROLINAS

Outer Banks to Myrtle Beach

North Carolina's Know Your Zone covers 21 coastal counties with zones A to E, including Dare, Currituck and New Hanover. No posting rule yet, so this is a storm-day alert service. Myrtle Beach has about 19,700 listings.

LEG 3 / WESTERN WILDFIRE TOWNS

South Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Placer

The 2024 Lake Tahoe regional plan says rentals will post a QR code and link at every exit door. That is our guest guide page.

Why owners act now, even where no map is required: rental guests are rarely signed up for local emergency alerts, and the owner is the only one who knows who is in the house on storm day. Cities keep adding the rule (Sarasota and Galveston in 2025), so a plan posted this season is already in place when the ordinance lands.

  • 50 units: $4,950 setup, $3,950 a year
  • Pre-season review and ordinance updates
  • Storm-day guest alerts, sent with a human check

Why $99 a year beats a $99 guidebook: a guidebook is a page the owner writes and keeps current, and it does nothing when an order comes. Our renewal re-checks route, shelters and ordinance each season and sends booked guests a checked text when their zone is ordered out.

Rush: $49 per property when your permit renewal is due within 7 days. The portfolio rate applies once your account has 10 or more units.

The numbers behind the price (labelled)
  • Build cost per unit: $10 for map and guide with a 20-minute staff check assumption
  • Laminated posting, printed and shipped: $6 assumption
  • Storm alerts, about 3 events a year: $2 assumption
  • Hosting and data: $3 assumption
  • Year-1 margin: $128 single (86%), $78 per portfolio unit (79%) derived
  • Renewal year cost about $11: margin $88 single, $68 portfolio derived
  • Sales cost: $90 single, $40 per unit on a portfolio deal assumption
  • Renewal churn check at 15% a year: about 5.7 renewal years, about $460 lifetime per portfolio unit against $40 to win it. At 30% churn: about $240, still six times. assumption
