Trust and safety
This plan does not replace official orders. Always follow your local emergency management office and 911 instructions.
What a plan is, and what it is not
A plan shows the nearest way out of the unit and a route to the nearest shelter that would be usable if your zone is ordered out. It is a guide for guests who do not know the area. It is not an evacuation order, a guarantee that a road or shelter is open, or a substitute for emergency services. On storm day the official order always comes first.
How automated drafts are checked
- Routes are computed from the county zone layer and the county pre-season shelter list, then checked by a person.
- Guest guide text and storm-day messages are drafted by software. None is shown to a guest until a named safety reviewer approves it.
- A plan cannot be signed off until the reviewer confirms four checks: route, shelter, ordinance items, and the printed disclaimer with source and check date.
- A storm-day message cannot be sent until the reviewer confirms it matches the official order. We record who checked it and when.
- Our back office tracks how often reviewers edit or hold back drafts.
Where the data comes from
Evacuation zones come from each state or county's official zone layer (Florida county Know Your Zone maps via FDEM, North Carolina Know Your Zone, county GIS elsewhere). Shelter locations come from the county emergency management pre-season list; on storm day our staff enter the official order by hand and check open shelters against the county's announcements and FEMA's public Open Shelters feed (which refreshes every 20 minutes) before any message is sent. There is no automatic feed into guest messages. Every county is re-checked each May and whenever an order is issued. Each posting prints its source and check date.

Legal limits
We do not issue, extend or cancel evacuation orders, and we do not decide whether a shelter is open: those calls belong to the county. Requirements for postings vary by city and county; our ordinance checklist reflects the published rule on the check date shown, and you remain responsible for your permit. Payments on this site are simulated; no real card is charged.
